if your language is not included in anaconda installer...
by Josep Puigdemont
Hi!
I filed the bug asking for the inclusion of all languages over the 90%
of translated strings of the essential packages. The bug number is
119395, which is now closed:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=119395
For those languages that have not yet been included (bn, hi, ta, and vi,
as the time of this writing), I'd like to remind you that, as stated in
the bug report, you need to file for your language if you want it to be
included, indicating:
Full language name:
Short name:
Default Locale:
Default keyboard map:
Console font:
Timezone:
I did it by filing a bug with category "enhancement" to anaconda. I
don't know if it is a good example, but you can check it here:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=119525
I'm writing here because I personally didn't know I had to file my
language, and thus it was left out from FC 2 test 2 during installation
(seems that Alan missed that too :).
I think it would be sad if after all your efforts your language was not
included [in the installation process] just because it was not filed
properly. Of course one shouldn't request the inclusion of a language
which has not yet translated 90 % of the strings of the essential
packages.
Regards,
/Josep

Hello,
I will change from provider address in august or so, but you can always
drop mail at the @hotmail address below. I will start my trip at 25
april, inbetween my girl'sfriend (24/4) and mine (26/4) in. But don't
worry, there are cheap flights to Valencia and Alicante these days, and
the Osborne sherry is as good as everywhere overthere...

The ALL_LINGUAS variable in the configure.in file controls what in
tarballs. Typically (well, at least in GNOME) translators add their
language to the ALL_LINGUAS list when they consider their translation to
be sufficiently mature that it should be shipped. I have no objections
to translators adding themselves to this file, so please do when you add
a new translation. I've gone ahead and added all the translations Lauri
noted to ALL_LINGUAS.

Tagalog Translation
by Alexander Lumantao
Greetings!
I'm interested in participating in the translation of the Fedora Core
Software and Documentations. I am 14 years old and I am really good in
computers. I am willing to give up my time in order to contribute to the
project. If this request of mine will be granted, I shall form a group from
other Filipino programmers so that we can help each other in the
localization of Fedora Core. I am fluent in english and in tagalog for I
have been a resident of the Philippines since birth. I am a pure-blooded
Filipino and contributing to this project is one of my ways of promoting the
Philippines as a highly educated country. I know certain I.T. managers that
also use Fedora Core for they introduced me to it and I think that they
would also be really happy in contributing to this worthy cause. I hope to
receive your reply soon regarding the matter.

inittscripts
by Josep Puigdemont
The following string:
/etc/rc.d/rc.sysinit:246
#, c-format
msgid "Press Y within %d seconds to force file system integrity
check..."
Doesn't seem to be "localizable", as the script always expects "y":
if /sbin/getkey -c $AUTOFSCK_TIMEOUT -m $"Press Y within %d seconds to
force file system integrity check..." y ; then
AUTOFSCK_OPT=-f

P.S.: I have the impression that I shouldn't "submit" this "bug" here,
is it ok, or should I directly go to bugzilla? Thanks

not much traffic
by Gertjan Vinkestejn
Hello friends,
As being a former SIL employee and christian, from 1982 till 1987, I was
very much interested in languages and numbers. I even thought that Irian
Jaya had 666 different languages. Scientifically this is not true, look
at the following link:
http://www.ethnologue.com/show_country.asp?name=Indonesia+%28Irian+Jaya%29
This number is dynamically of course and dependent on the amount of
native speakers. If you count the value of your letters, if they even
are IPA letters, up or down, left to right vice-versa is totally
dependent of your culture.
Eg. I think that they started to write Hebrew 751 years before the
christan roman calender, during King Josia.
After May 1st, I will stop my homepage and @xs4all provider address and
going to live nearby my 94yr old mother in Denia Spain, I will do that
on my Honda CB750K four pipe motorbike, quite an adventure ;-)
