Proposal: Fedora G11N Steering Committee

Hi All, I am sure, most of the people working with Fedora I18N, L10N from 5-6 year must be aware regarding Fedora L10N Steering Committee. [1] As far as i know this committee was active around 2009 and very effective. During Fedora G11N activity day discussions, we again felt there is need for some kind of official committee to drive Fedora Globalization activities. Fedora is growing faster with number of different domains and G11N also need to adapt those changes quickly to remain on the track. For this purpose and in line with [1], we were thinking of Fedora Globalization steering committee. I have created initial proposal for it. [2] Its open for feedback, please feel free to share other active members, discuss in your respective language groups. This is just initial proposal and i am sure, we can improve and make it more effective with active participation. moving to Weblate?

Hi, With the gradual demise of Zanata whose service reliability is getting worse I hear, I am wondering what do people think about moving Fedora Translations to the Weblate platform? https://weblate.org I believe a few people here have tried it and liked it. Of course it is a big job to switch but in the long term it looks more viable. Does it lack any important features compared to Zanata? Jens

For your information, Zanata project is dead, so we are thinking about testing other translation platform like Weblate. For F30 release, I suggest you to use Zanata and to not invest time with automation. For later, take the time to consider which translation platform is the best for the Plymouth project. I immediately liked Fedora, because it is a good OS for my workflow. I would like to contribute to Fedora, starting with localization for my native language. Flicker Free Boot - translations and schedule

Hello Hans, (CC : translation mailing list) I just read your article [1] about Flicker Free Boot[2], and it says translations are coming soon, which is a great news! Thank your for taking care of multi-lingual support :) While this is good new, I'm worried about the f30 schedule [3]. Translators need a little time to translate, dev to release, packager to produce a new package. As we already are behind string freeze, can you please make sure to communicate here when content is ready to translate and tell us the deadline? mythes-eo package

Hello translators, I have created a `mythes` and `hyphen` package for Esperanto. Unfortunately, I am not a sponsored Fedora developer, and the package doesn't seem like it'll be accepted unless I become sponsored. Between all manner of tasks, I do not have the time to pursue becoming sponsored. But even so I would like the package to enter Fedora. It likely requires zero maintenance. Translation team schedule tasks

I am beginning to prepare the schedule for Fedora 31. One thing I want to do is to make sure it still accurately reflects the work of different teams within Fedora. Please look at the tasks on your team's schedule [1] and discuss them in your team. Let me know if there are tasks that should be added, removed, or modified.
