Hi all
I like to propose experimental introduction of Zanata glossary onto fedora.zanata.org using the data Red Hat internally created as a base. Once introduced, it should appear bottom right hand side, next to Translation Memory, pls see this screenshot[1].
Currently, this feature is still on development, and has a room to improve especially permission area. Atm the data can only be edited by a user with 'glossarist' permission. This glossarist can edit any data across the languages. Any data will be editable as well new data can be added. So we will be able to build up our own Fedora Localization Glossary.
Will you please let me know if you like to see this experimental introduction or not, and whom to be granted as 'glossarist'?

Hi
I havn't heard any objection or negative comment, so that asked Alex from Zanata team to go ahead and implement it. Now, the data contains 2238 entries are available in Glossary feature for ten languages in editor screen. Please play around and give us feedback.
Anyone who has interest to edit/add an entry, please raise your hand in this list.

Hi Noriko, It's a good idea and feature. I have been trying to maintenance a Chinese glossary but it doesn't collect too many entries and is Chinese only.
Will it have the feature of being exported to file(s)? If the glossary can be exported and used in other project, I want to know what the license the glossary uses?
Please grant me as a glossary editor('glossarist').

Currently Zanata doesn't have export feature. We are working on it.

Looks nice, like having a small, focused dictionary at hand.
Anyone who has interest to edit/add an entry, please raise your hand in this list.
If it's difficult to break other languages when editing the one language you are interested in, please add me (lonemadmax in Zanata).

IMHO, glossarists should be able to add any source word or locution as a global glossary entry, thus all languages could benefit from the construction of the glossary. Or maybe add a feature to specify that a specific glossary entry is irrelevant to a specific languages. That would also enable the developement team to have some statistics about the gloassary usage, and see if other workflows should be proposed.

J.

I am sorry, I don't get it, existing right management. Could you please give us more context? Whatever it doesn't align to your team need, it should be adjusted. Let us know what is missing? Besides any input for glossary, it is much appreciated to leave your thoughts at the L10N Glossary page [1].
I'll be on holiday for three weeks and would like to enjoy no-computer environment. Thus it may take time to respond. I am sorry.

The idea would be to add another role besides translator, coordinator, and reviewer, such as glossarist.
That way, coordinators would be able to grant glossarist roles locally.

I am sorry being top-post, but can I ask you all to enter any "request" or "issue", "blocker" even "good/helpful feature you've experienced" in this page [1]? So that it won't be buried in the archive and allows us and Zanata team to evaluate those all later.

Hi all,
I am sorry being top-post, but can I ask you all to enter any "request" or "issue", "blocker" even "good/helpful feature you've experienced" in this page [1]? So that it won't be buried in the archive and allows us and Zanata team to evaluate those all later.

I will, but it's the second time a good idea is creating problems in Zanata. The first is the import of Red Hat Translation Memory.
If Zanata does the job for edition and memory... it not a great tool on many aspects. Especially for platform management, quality monitoring, team animation, alerts,...
We had discussions in the French mailing list about the different ways to translate words and some acronyms. An example is "Global Availability". I don't see how our conversations and decisions can be any use in the middle of more than two thousand words. So I don't see how Zanata can help me in community management. I'll leave someday, and it would not be included in collective tools. Like warming outside the house.
I feel like even more cripple... And I didn't notice any improvements witj Zanata since I started being involved in here.
I suggest to rollback until it is possible to have one different glossary per language.
Some items community based are more usefull than two thousands incompletes.
This list can exist in the form of a pdf per locale, or table in wiki, without any harm.
Hi Jérôme !
I like your ideas. A glossary everyone could check would be awesome.
Cheers, thanks, Sylvia

Hi
I havn't heard any objection or negative comment, so that asked Alex from Zanata team to go ahead and implement it. Now, the data contains 2238 entries are available in Glossary feature for ten languages in editor screen. Please play around and give us feedback.
Anyone who has interest to edit/add an entry, please raise your hand in this list.
noriko
Looks like fine to me, especially if we can edit it, please add me to this editor list.
Hi Noriko-san,
Can you please also add myself to the glossary editor role?
Btw : can't we use the existing right management used for teams ?
+1
Should we file a request for enhancement somewhere?
IMHO, glossarists should be able to add any source word or locution as a global glossary entry, thus all languages could benefit from the construction of the glossary. Or maybe add a feature to specify that a specific glossary entry is irrelevant to a specific languages. That would also enable the developement team to have some statistics about the gloassary usage, and see if other workflows should be proposed.

J.

Hi Noriko!.
I'm sorry I couldn't reply before. I'd really love to see this feature experimented. I think it would be very useful.

Hi all
I like to propose experimental introduction of Zanata glossary onto fedora.zanata.org using the data Red Hat internally created as a base.
Thanks
noriko

Excuse me, everyone.
I have proposal.
If a person who does not have the editing permission to glossary visited this glossary page, the red key icon should be appeared the upper left corner of the page in such same way as when visited to other languages team page.
And also the message "This project-version is read only. it cannot be edited." should be appeared in such same as when visited to other languages team page, too.
Thanks for the feedback and I totally agree on some information where its in readonly mode.
Is it possible to create a jira ticket in https://zanata.atlassian.net for your feedback?

I created a jira ticket of this feedback about readonly mode.
https://zanata.atlassian.net/browse/ZNTA-1111?jql= "Readonly mode of glossary is needed."
I have also another proposal. To link the glossary and the Wiki.
Creating a glossary Wiki, and opening the Wiki which everyuser can edit.
By doing such as this way, We can re-use the glossary, not only for translation ,but also for learning.
